A Side trip to an indigenous community to participate in a indigenous cultural dance ritual and learn a little bit about their culture. A walk through their gardens is always interesting as many of these settlers are of Indian ancestry and the breadth of their knowledge of the rainforest is enormous. We learn about the preparation of manioc flour and the health and education situations of the children.
Interaction with Pink River Dolphins
While Pink River Dolphins are known to be shy creatures, they are fascinatingly drawn to people, playing curiously with local children, and without demonstrating aggressive behavior. They also communicate using high-frequency sonar clicks to build a three-dimensional echogram of their dark riverine world.
